The government is the process of forming a Judicial Appointments Committee  to replace the  present system of the exclusive collegiums of five judges appointing judges to higher judiciary. While most in the legal system are supporting the move,  the Chief Justice of India has already questioned the need for such a move. What do you say

    As mentioned by the CJI Justice Altamas Kabir, what is the need for the proposed change . No one has answered that crucial question

    If we can trust our judiciary with the dispensation of justice, we can also trust them with appointments to the higher judiciary

    Like corporates have external consultants, even the Judicial Appointments Committee must have external members.

    UPA-II just can’t do any thing judicious,they will appoint persons of their convenience and play with judiciary,which is still a hope for Indians.

    The system has worked reasonably well so far. No guarantee that the alternate proposed will be any better

    There is no provision for the present system under the Indian constitution. It therefore needs to be stopped immediately

    It might be possible that an occasional good candidate does not get appointed but that does not mean the present system is a failure

    Judges should be promoted on years of job, number of cases solved , knowledge and of course qualification

    There are chances of appointing among group in order to get their choice of judgement. Encourages corruption
