A user has proposed the above topic which has been found suitable for posting on the website. Since in India itself we have many states, regions, following their own calendars, for each of which the New Year begins on a date other than the 1st Janaury, yet 1st January is also celebrated in such places as New Year Day, often with more vigour than the local calendar’s New Year Day. Do you think this is right.

If we want to be a global player we also need to have 1st January celebrated just like it is done worldwide

Because in our eagerness to copy the west, the local calendar new year day is soon losing its importance to 1st January.

If we can celebrate “friendship”, “valentines” day etc., only to keep the cards & gifting industry going, no harm in celebrating two new years too

Celebrate & spread our culture rather than accepting their. It may hurt sentiment of elders by giving importance to their culture and avoiding ours.

There is no harm in celebrating any of the day unless someone’s sentiment hurts. If it gives joy to all celebrity and no harm to anyone…..enjoyyyyyy

World is full of negativeness, hence we should not miss any opportunity to celebrate good times for any reason as long as it spreads happiness.
