The Supreme Court having reduced Mr. Sanjay Dutt’s prison sentence from six to five years for the illegal possession of a gun during the Mumbai riots means he has to go back once more to jail and spend another three and a half years there. Many see this as unfortunate. What do you say

    Unfortunate to the extent that while Dawood is enjoying in the PAK whereas Justice Katju worsened the case here in India if at all it is mercy case.

    Because law is blind. and if Sanjay dutt is released the normal people of India will think law cannot take any action against stars and high level people.

    Why should it be! In fact he is fortunate to have have worked for the past 20 years even after being proven guilty thanks to our slow judicial system!

    One the hand the law has to take its course on the other hand it is hard to see Sanju as a criminal who need to spend 5 years in jail

    It is very unfortunate. I am sure even Judges thought while pronouncing Judgement. But law can not distinguish for the crime elements.

    Why unfortunate? If he is guilty and the courts have proved him guilty, like all citizens he has to accept the consequences of his action.

    Quantum of Punishment should be as much as the person realize his/ her mistakes and never repeat. Its the way to stop crime and Sanjay Dutt realized.
