Once again the issue of preventing players of a selected country from participating in a scheduled sporting event has cropped up with Ms. Jayalalitha asking for the Sri Lankans not to be allowed to play or participate in any way in the IPL matches in Chennai. Similar situations have arisen before with the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. Many find this as unacceptable. What do you say

    Preventing person who has nothing to do with such issues is unjustifiable. We live in the country where we say ‘Atithi Devo bhava’ .

    Issues of the locals need to highlighted, and preventing planned sporting events is a good way of drawing attention to local sentiments.

    It’s better not to play in the states where the citizens cannot appreciate sports as sports and not mix it with politics.

    Yes, Sports should not be mixed with politics. Governments are appointed to protect people, not to bar them from entering some states.
